Three issues of the “Folklore table” show which will be broadcasted in December, are filmed in Tsenovo village, region of Ruse. Our kind hosts were the people from the “Mladi sartsa” pensioners’ club and “Hristo Botev – 1898” community centre. The Christmas edition of the show includes traditional recipes from Divdyadovo residential area in the town of Shumen.

The first issue of the show in December is dedicated to the traditions of the St. Nikolas Day. Except the musical, vocal and dance performances, the show includes appetizing dishes, cooked by Bulgarians on the day of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. You can expect the receipts for STUFFED CARP WITH RICE, sacrificial rite “CARP WITH RICE” and STUFFED CARP WITH WALNUTS.

In the second edition of the show we will present you some of the oldest dishes typical for the village of Tsenovo – BEANS IN POT, CORN GROATS and TIKVENIK (Bulgarian sweet pumpkin pie). You will also watch the old Bulgarian custom “TLAKA” (traditional form of assistance to relatives, neighbors and fellow villagers in Bulgaria). The show includes also folklore performances of groups from Tsenovo village, presented in the Stara planina Festival “Balkan Folk”, the Balkan Championship of Folklore “Euro Folk – Jiva voda” and Black Sea Fest “Euro Folk”.

In the Christmas edition of the show you will see how to prepare the table for Christmas Eve, how to celebrate the Christmas Eve and how the waits visit the homes. Furthermore, you will hear many stories in which our interlocutors - the amateurs from “Asen Zlatarov – 1872” community centre, Shumen, speak about the history of the village and local traditions.

In the days between Christmas and New Year, the “Folklore table” show will help you in preparing the festive menu for New Year’s Eve. We will offer you culinary receipts from Tsenovo village again - BREAD WITH CHEESE, SWEET HALVA and traditional BANITSA “MAKARINA”.
