The contestants from Female Folk Choir from Community center “”Development 1902” – village Merdanya, Municipality Lyaskovets, District Veliko Tarnovo with director Krasimira Koleva won the Grand Prix Goledn “Orpheus” of the XII International folklore festival “Euro folk – Black sea” 2016 because of their beautiful angel-voices. They were awarded by the president of the European
Children’s dance group “Pigeons” from cultural house Galabovo, district Stara Zagora supplemented the list of the winners with first prize Golden “Orpheus” in genre categories. The talented young students of Valentina Vasileva, lightend up the mood with dances from regions Dobrudzha , Trakia and Sofia and won the prize in the category “processed dances”.
The other prize winners of first prize Golden “Orpheus” are in the genre categories: “Folk Customs”, “Authentic songs”, “Folklore Ensembles” and “Children Folklore Ensembles”.
The contestants from Macedonia – Yovan Mitreski and Maya Krastevska earned the applause for their performances. The jury also reported that their performance was worthy and awarded them with diplomas and recommendation for participation the European championship “Euro folk”.
Over 60 formations (dance groups, ensembles and individual performers) with more than 1000 contestants from Bulgaria and abroad participated in the 12th edition of “Euro Folk – Black Sea” 2016, which took place in the “Green Pak” hotel in Kiten. All the contestants were given Honorable diplomas and were given the honorable token of the forum. Numerous groups won Diplomas for generation continuity named after Iliyan Nikolov, the founder of “Balkan Folk” and Musical Celebrations. Many contestants became a discovery of “Euro Folk – Black Sea” 2016, among them were many young performers of the Bulgarian folk song form Sliven and Merdanya, aged only between 4 and 16.
During the folklore forum the contestants created many new friendships and hardend old ones. The had fun together after getting off the stage. And on the grand finale, after the wishes of the president of EAFF, Mr. Kaloyan Nikolov, to see eachother next year, all of them began dancing a big Bulgarian round-dance.
